Marc Clery's Biography

Marc Clery is a professional photographer experienced in photojournalism, commercial, wedding, portraiture and fine art photography.

The heart of his work is his pursuit of photography as a medium of artistic expression and a means of examining the human condition.

Clery has received numerous awards from such professional organizations as the National Press Photographers Association, the Florida Press Association and the Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association.

He has worked with The Miami Herald ,The Vero Beach Press-Journal, The Wilmington, Del. News-Journal and the Delaware State News and his work has also been published in USA Today, The Washington Post, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and The Wall Street Journal newspapers and in Delaware Today and Wine magazines.

Clery started his full-time career in photojournalism in 1978 with The Milford Chronicle, where he was the first and only full-time photographer.

"The Chronicle gave me a sense of community that has stayed with me throughout my photojournalism career,” he said.

As a fine arts photographer, he has had successful and critically acclaimed exhibits at The Canyon, The Second Street Gallery in Lewes, Café Calypso in Dover and at the Rehoboth Art League.

Clery has also worked as adjunct instructor of photography at Wesley College. He welcomes the opportunity with Capturing Light classes to again share his knowledge with others.

“I wanted to give something back with all that I have learned being a photographer for the past 27 years. When I taught at Wesley College in the late 1980s I enjoyed watching the students become better photographers. Photography is creative and it’s wonderful to be creative every day.”

The spring 2006 Capturing Light class was wonderful. The students exhibited their best photographs at Nassau Valley Vineyards Gallery for the entire month of September 2006. During the open reception the students greeted guests and sold their photos.
